people call the public option socialism because the think socialism is bad. it is bad when dealing with money but not on healthcare. socialism in healthcare has been a proven sucess all around the world. people say the gov’t should not take up a 6th of the ecoinomy but i say healthcare should not take up a 6th of it

socialism is called bad when associated with healthcare because people say socialised healthcare will take away feedom. private healthcare today takes away the freedom of people who can live longer beccause they don’t have enough money

Heartlessness is itself a mental condition: It’s called “sociopathy.”
February 25th, 2010 at 11:08 am
“Heartless conservatives” — isn’t that a bit redundant?

5 stars given, btw. Thanks for reminding me.

Thank you Keith for sharing this intimate and painful story. As an RN with over 26 years experience you can perhaps imagine how many of these stories I have seen. To see all our attempts as medical professionals at preserving autonomy and ethical choice reduced to political phrases such as “death panels” is horrifying.. it is difficult to not become bitter at those who have been so easily fooled , , , Please keep speaking out for those who desperately want to maintain choice and dignity

Haha, too true!

God Bless Keith Olbermann and his ailing father

as ye sow……so shall ye reap….or what goes around comes around………its karma stupid.

Humans come first, or we’re all finished.

@xeromaximum, it’s true. the private healthcare has taken our freedom. people need to gain perspective on the public option. i was so sad when i saw this last night. i hope Keith, his father, and family get through this. America needs reform!

Using your fathers illness to make a political point….ugh. Forget all those specialists if you get single payer. Forget getting immedaite treatment too. You’ll just have to wait 10 months to get that treatment, and have no one checking on you when you’re in pain. Your system needs reforming, but not the introduction gov’t run system. The NHS stinks over here.

“Last Friday night, my father asked me to kill him.”
ROFLMAO!!!! Wow. I’m sure your father really appreciates you dragging him around to make your political points. Have you no shame, sir?
February 25th, 2010 at 5:10 pm
JMcH and beelz3333, did you watch the whole thing? Near the end, Keith tells us that his dad WANTED him to speak on his behalf.
February 25th, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Oh, so his dad WANTED him to do this. That makes it okay. Yeah, his dad who is so mentally unstable that he asked his son to kill him. Yeah, you’re right. It’s perfectly fine to trot out your sick father to make your political point when he asks you to do it. Yep.
Please. You and I both know that if Sarah Palin had done this exact same thing to argue against government-run healthscare, Special Keith would’ve had another one of his special moments and condemned it.
February 25th, 2010 at 5:34 pm
I can’t believe his father asked him to kill him! I feel soooo bad for the father. I hope he gets well soon.
February 25th, 2010 at 5:41 pm
If Keith Olbermann were my son, I’d want someone to kill me, too.
February 25th, 2010 at 6:20 pm
@JinxMcHue
His father likely had told him that before he got worse, you don’t know, you weren’t there. When he started losing it, he couldn’t speak at all.

@justonefirefly1
They now love Medicare, the GOP proposed a bill to “protect” Medicare even though they’ve been generally opposed to any form of public insurance..
In an effort to oppose the President at every turn, they have rallied and/or voted against almost everything President Obama has proposed and supported; even conservative things like tax cuts, spending cuts, pay-go, and deficit commissions, good ideas that Republicans allegedly used to stand for, they now oppose.
February 25th, 2010 at 7:11 pm
Yeah, your father asked you to kill him, your his son!….I would ask the same thing if my seed had spawned such a douche bag.
February 25th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
Keith Olbermann is not a douche bag! Do u have any sadness for him and his father?
February 25th, 2010 at 7:44 pm
No. And yes he is a douche bag and so are you.
February 25th, 2010 at 7:45 pm
Yeah, dad is asking son to commit an illegal act. See the apple doesn’t fall to far from the retard tree.
February 25th, 2010 at 7:46 pm
Boo fvking hoo Keith.
