TEA PARTY CONVENTION – Sarah Palin, Orly Taitz, Interviews with Participants
May 31st, 2010
PLEASE HELP US SHARE THIS VIDEO In February 2010, the group Tea Party Nation organized the first Tea Party Convention in Nashville, TN, a for-profit event. Some 600 people paid $550 to attend, and Sarah Palin was reportedly paid $115000 to the be the keynote speaker. After criticism of the convention’s cost, for-profit status, and payment to Palin, multiple national Tea Party organizations withdrew their participation. But the event went on. And so did the paranoid, conspiratorial assertions–that President Obama was born in another country, that he has covered up his college transcripts, that he is pushing a communist/socialist agenda, that he is protecting terrorists and endangering our country, etc. The organizers of the convention made great efforts to limit access to the press, and even held “new-media training” sessions to help the Tea Partiers sound and look better on camera–the more people see inside this movement, the less like it. But we got ourselves into the event, where the right-wing, fringe sentiments were on plain display. That said, these Tea Partiers–able to pay the cost of attendance–are more affluent than those at the 9.12 DC March, and more self-conscious of they are portrayed in the media. There were fewer signs and homemade t-shirts here, but the attitudes, if more subtle in delivery, were the same. Special thanks for John Aravosis and Joe Sudbay of AMERICAblog (www.americablog.com) for helping us get an Amtrak ticket out of the DC snowstorm …

When it shall be said in any country in the world, my poor are happy; neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them; my jails are empty of prisoners, my streets of beggars; the aged are not in want, the taxes are not oppressive; the rational world is my friend, because I am the friend of its happiness: when these things can be said, then may that country boast its constitution and its government. Thomas Paine, Rights of Man.

It’s sad that some people who have a legitimate point about spending in Washington and some of the bank bailouts are overshadowed by these retards who know absolutely nothing and when asked a question stumble and bumble to find the answer. People still think Obama isn’t an American Citizen? God damn these people are dumb.

I’ve never understood why people like this always want the “common person” as president and not someone they describe as “elite.” Why would I want someone who is “common” running the country and making the crucial decisions that need to be made? A person with this much responsibility should be someone who is exceptional. Obama=a constitutional lawyer, Clinton=Rhodes scholar, HW Bush=former head of the CIA. These are the kinds of people we should strive to put in office, not hockey moms.

@IowaArmen Social security was designed to go into effect after the average lifespan has ended therefore it is another SCAM perpetrated on the people.

I’ve seen this guy interviewing people and he intentionally finds the average person who cannot intelligently express his views. I never see them interview the people I have seen and spoken with at tea parties. Obama is a disgrace to our country.

@10minutejoomla Can you tell me who are the people in control of the President? I can tell you it is not the people who have voted for him. Can you name some of the names and their backgrounds of the appointed ones around him? I can, and I know their beliefs. I’ll tell you that they do not like the Constitution. Do you feel they will uphold our Constitution? Do you know what and the importance of this document? All you people who are unaware of what made this country free disgust me.

@haolejohn Do you even know what Marxism is? How it differ from Socialism and how both differ from National Socialism?
I hope you do, but the jokers on these videos sure don;t. To them, if it ends in “ism” is all one and the same.

“Definition of socialist is ‘Not American’” You got to love that one. I wonder how the rest of the world feels about that one.
I’d love to get a brain scan of the participants. Probably it’ll cream puffs and cheeseburgers.

@NederlandsFalen The USA is spending 1.2 BILLION a day in interest on our national debt. Our President is creating more programs when we have TRILLIONS in UNFUNDED obligations to SSI/Medicaire. We have 10% unemployment & they want to give citizenship to millions who do not even speak our language. Please tell me what about any of this is good for the USA?

what a great journalist, quick on his feet, critical thinker and knows the right questions to ask. Bravo. If you, the interviewer, posted this, good job.

According to Pat Robertson, God flooded Gaylord Conference Center because he got disgusted that these idiots held the first Tea Party there.

“Tea Party” is a Big Lie. It’s not the simple 1700s. We now have millions of life-saving water-food-air-safety, police, military, etc. provided by “big government” (We The People). During the real Tea Party there were no freeways, bridges nor school that allow real tax-paying patriots to work & contribute to the superior progress this nation has. I’ve never whined about paying taxes as without regulations many of us wouldn’t be here. Due to Cheney’s deregulations the Gulf is an oil pool.”
